About Us

Life Sentence

Nearly 1 out of 4 people suffers from mental illness in the United States and nearly 1 in 12 suffers from drug and alcohol dependency.  They are our friends, our neighbors, and our families.Mental health and addiction challenges are something that affects us all.

If we are to fight the stigma around mental health and addictions issues and create an environment where people can get the help they need, we have to change perceptions.  We can change perceptions by reaching out to our families and communities to build understanding. We can change perceptions by breaking the silence and shame.

Open Minds Open Doors is a community campaign driven by residents of Clackamas County. It is designed to reduce the stigma around mental illness and addictions issues so that people are more willing to seek and find help at the onset of their problems.  Together, we can make a difference by creating a community conversation, opening the door to shed light on the issue, and helping to end the stigma and discrimination around mental illness and addictions.

Open Minds Open Doors is working to change attitudes, and challenge the myths and fears around mental illness and addictions.

Open Minds Open Doors is a conversation and a call to action.
